I'm so happy to see you advocating for the wink-wink-nudge-nudge approach! For me, this is a theological question. People sometimes act like the only options for a belief are: 1. real like a table or chair is real, or 2. a big, fake lie. What a shame! The world is full of magical, mysterious things that fall somewhere in between. I am 44 years old, and so far, Santa Claus has filled my stocking every year of my life. I think most kids are smart enough to transition smoothly from "Santa gave me this!" to ""Santa" gave me this!" When a belief brings joy and inspiration, and isn't hurting anybody, it doesn't necessarily have to be supported by cold, hard facts.
